Tsolak Makaryan is a seasoned audit and advisory professional with over a decade of experience in financial audit, internal control systems, and risk management across a wide spectrum of sectors, including mining, healthcare, energy, information technology, and the nonprofit sector.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and a licensed auditor under Armenian national standards. This diverse qualification set underpins his deep understanding of both international and local financial reporting and control environments.

Prior to joining GPMA, Tsolak held senior roles at leading international audit firms, including EY and BDO Armenia, where he was responsible for leading complex audit and advisory assignments, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards. His expertise spans statutory and IFRS audits, internal control assessments, due diligence, and financial reporting transformation projects for both public and private entities.

At GPMA, Dr. Makaryan leads the Audit Department, overseeing quality assurance, methodology, and technical excellence across all assurance engagements. He plays a critical role in guiding strategic initiatives, mentoring audit professionals, and ensuring that each audit delivers actionable insights and value beyond compliance. His leadership is instrumental in strengthening the firm’s reputation for high-quality service delivery in Armenia’s evolving regulatory and business landscape.
